A Collagraph is a print of a collage of a wide variety of materials glued together on a metal or chipboard plate and printed as an intaglio would be. Picasso, Matisse and Gris were some of the early innovators that have influenced the Collagraph process. A plate may be made with a collection of tape, glue, papers, fabric, lace, sandpaper, and thin plastics or metal shapes.
In this class, each student will “collage” their own plate with found materials of their choice and learn how to print consistently for edition work.

Beth Thielen is a recent recipient of a Rauschenberg Fellowship. She worked as an Artist In Residence through the California Arts Council for over twenty years. Getty Museum, The Library of Congress Special Collections and many University Art collections.
